Information on Work Permit PDF Print E-mail

Your employer helps determine if you are eligible. Your employer may need to get a labour market opinion from Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC). A labour market opinion confirms that your employer can fill the job with a foreign worker.

You must satisfy the general requirements for entering Canada and for staying, in addition towards securing a work permit. This means you may need a temporary resident visa.

Work Permit is a temporary visa. It does not allow you to live in Canada permanently. To live here permanently, you must qualify under an Skilled Worker immigration category.

Your dependents need to obtain an entry permit to live temporarily if they wish to accompany you while during your travel and stay to Canada.
