This program is for applicants who are planning to settle in Charlottetown, or any other city in Prince Edward Island (PEI), under the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Successful applicants will receive a Prince Edward Island Provincial Nomination Certificate, which will speed-up the Canada Immigration (Permanent Resident) Visa application process. Under the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), you may qualify under one of four categories: - Prince Edward Island PNP Skilled Worker
- Prince Edward Island PNP Immigrant Entrepreneur
- Prince Edward Island PNP Immigrant Partner
- Prince Edward Island PNP Immigrant Connections
Prince Edward Island PNP Skilled WorkerTo qualify in the Skilled Worker category, an applicant must have: - Scored at lease 50 points on the PEI PNP Self-Assessment form;
- A Prince Edward Island job offer;
- Education and training consistent with the position offered;
- A command of the English and French language if required for the position; and
- The intention to settle in Prince Edward Island.
Prince Edward Island PNP Immigrant EntrepreneurTo qualify in the Immigrant Entrepreneur category, an applicant must: - Have a minimum net worth of CDN$ 400,000;
- Make a minimum investment of CDN$ 200,000 to establish a new enterprise or to purchase an existing business (at least 33% ownership);
- Have a business plan that makes sense in the Prince Edward Island business environment;
- Deposit CDN$ 100,000, which is held in escrow and returned to the Nominee after one (1) year's residency and the establishment of the business;
- Deposit CDN$ 25,000 in good faith that is refunded after applicant has resided in PEI for one (1) year;
- Escrow CDN$ 20,000 with the Government of PEI should the applicant's capacity in English or French be insufficient to be interviewed in that language. This language deposit will be returned if the applicant can later demonstrate moderate language skills, in English or French; and
Meet at least some of the following criteria: - Be less than 55 years of age;
- Have a minimum fourteen (14) years of education, including one (or more) post-secondary certificates or degrees;
- Be capable of being interviewed in English or French; and
- Have several years of management or business ownership experience in a sector relevant to the PEI economy.
Prince Edward Island PNP Immigrant PartnerPlease note that the Prince Edward Island PNP is not accepting Immigrant Partner applications at the present time. The Immigrant Partner category is intended for applicants who propose to make an investment in a PEI company and to take an active role as director or senior manager in the company. To qualify in the Immigrant Partner category, an applicant must: - Have a minimum net worth of CDN$ 400,000;
- Make a CDN$ 200,000 investment in an eligible PEI company through an Investment Intermediary;
- Deposit CDN$ 25,000 in good faith that is refunded after applicant has resided in PEI for one year;
- Escrow CDN$ 20,000 with the Government of PEI should the applicant's capacity in English or French be insufficient to be interviewed in that language. This language deposit will be returned if the applicant can later demonstrate moderate language skills, in English or French; and
Meet at least some of the following criteria: - Be between 21 and 49 years of age;
- Have a minimum twelve (12) years of education (high school);
- Be capable of being interviewed in English or French; and
- Have at least five (5) years of management or business ownership experience in a sector relevant to the PEI economy.
Prince Edward Island PNP Immigrant ConnectionsCanadian citizens or Permanent Residents living in PEI can request that the PEI government nominate their close family members for Canadian Permanent Residency. To make such a recommendation, PEI residents must meet the criteria of a "Champion". To qualify as a Champion, an individual must: - Have lived in PEI for more than two years as a Canadian Permanent Resident or citizen;
- Have a regular source of income sufficient for their needs and the needs of their dependents; and
- Have an unblemished personal history.
To be recommended by a Champion, applicants must: - Have the intention to live in PEI;
- Prove that they are an eligible family member of the Champion's (parent or grandparent, child or grandchild, sibling, cousin, niece or nephew, aunt or uncle);
- Have an offer of employment or, in the view of the Province, a capacity to work in PEI; and
- Be in good health with no criminal record.
