- Prepare an inventory of your possessions. This can help to organise your move and can also serve as a record of your assets for insurance purposes.
- Start notifying people, businesses and organisations of your upcoming change in address.
- Fill in a mail redirection form at the post office. We suggest that mail is redirected to a close friend or family member who can either forward it on a regular basis (a cheaper option) or in some cases advise you of the content of redirected mail.

- Arrange for your landline telephone, cable TV to be disconnected just prior to your move and terminate any outstanding mobile phone contracts.

- Ensure your possessions will be fully insured during the move. If not, arrange for extra insurance cover.
